Divorce FAQ

I am new to the divorce process, where do I start?

The first place to start in the in the divorce process in Texas is by consulting with and hiring an experienced divorce attorney such as the experienced divorce attorneys at Garg & Associates. After a consultation with your divorce attorney, the attorney will advise, if you are the initiating party, you file an Original Petition for Divorce. This document will initiate the divorce by introducing the parties to the Court and by asking the Court to grant relief. After the filing of the Original Petition for Divorce, your attorney will work with you and your spouse and their attorney to enter into something called temporary orders, which are orders which will control the parties during the divorce process.

Reaching the decision to end your marriage is tremendously difficult. Given the complicated and emotional issues with which you are faced in the process, the best advice is to work with a lawyer experienced in Texas divorce law. A lawyer experienced in the legal process can ease your stress as you go through this emotional legal process.
